OA Colts made the long journey to Woodbridge on Sunday 13th November for a difficult 3rd round National Colts Cup game, and came away with an ultimately comfortable 27-13 win.
Woodbridge came out all guns blazing – tackling like men possessed and competing hard at every breakdown. OAs could not get their free-flowing game going under such pressure and found themselves giving a huge number of penalties away. The half time score of 10-6 to OAs reflected a very tight game with OAs creating some opportunities but failing to put them away under pressure from the Woodbridge defence.
In the second half, as Woodbridge perhaps tired, OAs finally started to put some passages of play together and added two further tries and a penalty, with Woodbridge scoring a consolation try with the last phase of play.
Three tries were scored in all by James McCallum, Luke Atkinson-Coyle and Jonny Olive; with Jonny Olive kicking three conversions and two penalties for a 100% kick success ratio.
OAs now look forward to seeing who they will meet in the 4th round on 11th December.
